Grants Available

In Silicon Valley, successful companies innovate. We believe the same principle applies to successful teachers.

Since 2005, Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF) has provided Teacher Innovation Grants to empower Silicon Valley educators with the extra resources they need to create new and exciting learning experiences for their students.

Today's Challenge

  • Nationally, teachers spent on average $936 from their own pockets in the 2009-10 school year. This included $398 on basic supplies and $538 on instructional materials.*
  • School budgets have been reduced so that there is often little money available for anything beyond basic classroom materials and equipment in many districts.
  • Field trip funds have been eliminated in many school districts.
  • Teachers and schools use fundraising from parents and other sources to supplement classroom projects.

Our Goals

SVEF’s goal is to raise $100,000 annually to award at least 150 Teacher Innovation Grants every school year. By achieving this investment level, we will make a difference in the education of over 11,000 Silicon Valley students. This represents an average of 75 students per grant.

Our Solutions

PK-12 teachers can apply individually or collaboratively for one of the following opportunities.

  • Classroom Grant to purchase equipment and materials that are not part of the regular school budget
  • Field Trip Grant to take students on a excursion to expand students’ horizons beyond the classroom
